Ryan Roche

General Manager Aviation

Having achieved his pilot license at the age of 18, Ryan has always had a passion for aircraft. From servicing remote communities and cattle stations through the Northern Territory, Kimberlys and FNQ, Ryan joined Skydive Australia (then Skydive the Beach) in 2008.

Ryan currently oversees the company's fleet of 35 aircraft and also holds a skydiving licence himself with over 100 skydives under his belt. Ryan's total aeronautical experience is in excess of 6,000 hours.

Ryan is the owner and operator of Australia's only CASA Part 141 accredited Jump Pilot Training provider, The Australian Jump Pilot Academy and is one of the APF's inaugural Jump Pilot Training Examiners and holds a position on the APF's Aviation Standards Committee.

Ryan is a dedicated father of three boys who also share his passion of aircraft and aviation.

Roy Karmaker

Avionics Manager - Australia

Roy began his aviation career in 1991 in India with AirParabat, where he completed his apprenticeship as an aircraft maintenance engineer. Following his apprenticeship, he moved to Australia in 2004. In 2005, Roy started working at Hawker Pacific as an AME, further honing his skills in the field.

Seeking to expand his expertise in avionics, Roy moved to Pacific Avionics, where he began working on complex avionics upgrades and installations. By 2017, he joined PAAUS (AMC back in 2017) as an Avionics LAME, quickly proving to be an invaluable member of the team. At PAAUS, Roy holds the role of avionics manager and workshop supervisor, dedicating himself to training numerous B2 apprentices and guiding them through to their qualifications. His mentorship and technical expertise have greatly contributed to the skill development of the next generation of avionics professionals at PAAUS.

Ron Cattell

Engineering Manager - Australia

Ron began his aviation career on September 12, 1988, at Aero Enterprise in Lismore, working in the engine overhaul shop. In 1993, he relocated to Cairns to help establish a new branch for Aero Enterprise.

In 2008, Ron joined Hinterland, where he served as both a Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (LAME) and a maintenance controller within a Part 42/145 organisation, eventually progressing to Engineering Manager and gaining his licenses on PT6 and piston engines as well as airframe.

After 14 years, Ron made a sea change in August 2022, moving from Cairns to the Illawarra to take on the role of Engineering Manager at Performance Aviation. Since then, he has added a TPE331 engine license to his credentials and continues to work with a talented team of colleagues.

Engineering Manager - New Zeland

Dave began his aviation career in the RNZAF where he served for 10 years working on various helicopter types, and in the engine and component workshops. He spent 7 years in the Middle East where he was a โ€œVVIPโ€ helicopter mechanic, then a quality inspector and later the quality & engineering manager for the national fleet of Search and Rescue helicopters in the UAE. Upon returning home to New Zealand, Dave started his own business providing labour support to various aircraft maintenance organisations in the Southern Lakes region, before joining the Performance Aviation team in 2023.
Dave is very data-driven, passionate about process improvement, and bringing modern ideas to the industry. He holds a CAA AMEL and IA certificate.
Pete Mckenna

Pete McKenna

Avionics Manager - New Zealand

Pete has been with Performance Aviation since 2017 and has over 20 years in the aviation industry.

He trained with the RNZAF as an avionics technician where he served for 13 years primarily based in Auckland working on C-130s and Boeing 757s. Before joining Performance Aviation, Pete gained valuable experience and license ratings on GA aircraft and helicopters in Taupo. Ratings include Group 1 electrical, Group 1 and 2 instruments, Group 1, 2 and 3 Radios, Group 1 Aeroplanes, Airbus AS350 and 355 as well as Bell 222. Pete has also completed an IA course with CAA which allows him to carry out conformity inspections on major avionics modifications and repairs. He has also completed several Garmin dealer training sessions.
